The Community Data Program was created by the Canadian Council on Social Development and is made up of municipalities and public service and non-profit community organizations from across the country. The program facilitates networking, training, and access to data to all its members. As members of the Calgary branch, SAIT is able to access data, including Stats Canada Census data at member's customized geographies (such as communities and wards).

These resources can help students to become more familiar with the vast data available through the Census Profile, the relationship between the standard dissemination geographies, and location of associated boundary files. Students are encouraged to explore the full collection of data available through the Statistics Canada website.
The City of Calgary has made many of their spatial and non-spatial datasets available online through their Open Data Portal. Datasets include civic census data, facilities, transportation, parks and natural spaces and more.
SAIT students and faculty may request City of Calgary spatial data through the Reg Erhardt Library. Data provided by the City of Calgary is for educational, non-commercial use only and requesters are required to sign a Data Release Agreement.
