Architectural Technology: Citing and Writing

Design and develop plans and working drawings, estimate costs and supervise building construction projects.

Research and Writing

The Library has a variety of guides and tutorials to help you with research and writing on our Academic Support page.

Make sure you evaluate all information sources carefully, whether from the library, open internet or other sources.

In addition, these other resources may be useful:

  • OWL has a variety of writing and research guides
  • Grammar Girl is a great resource for understanding the mechanics of writing

Tools for Citation Management

These free tools can help you manage your citations.

  • MS Word: Word 2007 and up includes a basic citation manager
  • Zotero: A free, open-source software program that will manage sources and create citations in multiple styles.
  • Mendeley: A free software program similar to Facebook for researchers.  Can manager sources and create citations in multiple styles.

For more information about citation software tools, check out the Citation Software Guide.

Citation Guides

The library maintains basic citation guides for use by SAIT students

If you don't see what you need in the above guides, The OWL at Purdue will probably cover it.

Many of our databases and e-book providers will also give you formatted citations in the style of your choice. These citiations are not always perfect, however, and should be checked against a guide or with your instructor.

Note: Always check with your instructors about their preferred citation style and other assignment criteria.
