The Reg Erhardt Library holds a collection of 15 LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Core sets available to students, faculty, and staff at SAIT. Three Expansion kits, which contain supplementary structural and mechanical pieces as well as extra building instructions and programs, are also available for use.
These kits consist of a programmable P-brick, several sensors, and LEGO pieces which allow for the creation of robotics and engineering projects.
The kits provide a unique and engaging teaching tool relating to computer programming, engineering, robotics, and various other fields. They also provide great group learning and team-building opportunities for classroom and staff groups.
Use the links below to check on the availability of Mindstorm sets. You'll need to click "Show more items" at the bottom of the the locations list to see all our sets.
LEGO Mindstorms kits may be signed out for 3 days. See Borrowing Materials for full lending rules.
The required Mindstorms software is available for free from LEGO and works with a variety of desktop and mobile platforms.
Instructors can request sets for use in the classroom. Please make your request at least a few days ahead of time, so that we can prepare sufficient kits for you. Also, if working in a on-campus computer lab, you'll need to coordinate installation of the Mindstorms software with ITS.
