INST 396: Analytical Instrumentation Capstone Project: Doing your research

Conducting a Literature Search

There are a few key steps to conducting a literature search:

  1. Once you've clearly defined your research question or topic, identify keywords and synonyms to use in your search.
  2. Select the appropriate tools for your search. Start broadly with the Library Search, or go directly to specialized subject databases.
  3. Track your research findings! Consider using a tool like Google Documents or Google Spreadsheets to keep track of the resources you find and share them with your group members.
