COVID-19 Library Service Update Overview

The Library is operating at a reduced capacity. We are currently adapting our services to best serve you from a distance. We will keep this page up-to-date as additional information becomes available. For general information about COVID-19 related news at SAIT, please visit

Is the Library open? What are your current hours?

Starting Monday, March 23rd the Library will be closed indefinitely. There will be no access to computers, staff or other resources at our physical location.

You can reach us by email and online chat during posted hours.

Are staff available to assist me at the information desk?

The Library Information Desk is not open. For general inquiries and basic assistance with research and citations, send us an email  or use our online chat service.

For in-depth research and citation assistance, book a video, voice, or chat appointment with the liaison librarian for your school.

Can I still borrow books (or course textbooks, course reserves, DVDs, laptops, media items, etc.)?

No, we are not lending any physical items until further notice.

VitalSource, an e-textbook rental service, is currently providing temporary access to course textbooks. You need to create an account and download the app in order to access textbooks, and not all textbooks are available. Please note that the service collects, analyzes, and potentially shares your technical and usage data as outlined in their privacy policy.

Can I access library resources online? How do I do this?

Yes, many of our resources such as books, journal articles, videos, and our subject guides are available online. You may be asked to sign in using your 9 digit SAIT student or staff ID number and your Library PIN. Your Library PIN should be the last four digits of your phone number. If you experience problems with your PIN, please contact us. You can also still request e-resources through interlibrary loan.

Are math and writing tutors still available?

Many tutoring services are still available online. See the Tutoring Services page for more information.
